My name is Hamaad Djamshidi. I was born in Manchester-England in December 1976; grew up in Tehran-Iran; and, currently live in Nottingham-England as a student.
I love dancing, learning and writing. Enjoy performance art and look forward to opportunities for travel. I like to meet new people, make new friends and learn more about different cultures.
One of my many habits is to search for working constructs that could both satisfy my ego and provide me with a better sense of direction in my journey of life. In one of these solitary investigations – in an attempt to elucidate one's sense of identity – I envisioned myself as an ever evolving individual in a network of diversely different relations and associations. If I were to learn more about myself, I ought to study my relationships in this network; my quality of interactions in it; and above all, my role and contributions to it, in light of varying contextual ambiences.
Consistent with this practice, I think a best approach to my self-introduction would be an exploration of my sense of self as I think I am or aspire to be in four thematic contexts. I hope this approach can provide my friends with a cohesive, well rounded and insightful introduction.
In my personal relations with my friends, for instance, I want to be able to describe myself as a gentle and charming friend who is fair, frank, honest and reliable. However, having said that, it's obvious that I'm not the best person to assure you and say whether I succeed in doing so or not.
As a member of public, in my social life, I believe that there must be better solutions for human beings' difficulties. I have a dream that one day, we – ordinary people – will live in a just sustainable peaceful globalised world, and I want to take my part in making this dream come true. This desire inevitably influences my direction of travel in life and, above all, my professional endeavours. [After all, one's choice of profession could in part be understood as a formalised expression of what one desires to contribute to Human Story and a reflection on what one would like to offer to this soiree called life.]
My yearning for such an evolution in the world order that goes beyond a natural, inevitable and linier progression of current trends could best be expressed in its metaphorical form as a fascination I have always had with the idea of building bridges to a better future. This implies an active, gradual and responsible pursuit of these ideas and ideals, mindful of realities on the ground. [It would therefore be fair to say that I am a reformist at heart and a pragmatic dreamer
in my analyses of the world.]
Looking back on my professional journey till date, I think such an understanding explains best my initial interest, desire and determination in learning more about the art of delivering change – management. The profession most of my friends associate me with.
However, as I studied more and grew to appreciate the complexities of the world we live in, I developed a growing appetite for a tender exploration and an ardent excursion of the world of ideas. Nowadays, therefore, I smile and shake hands for living; and, seduced by the joyous power of learning – in the light of some recent personal discoveries – live as a professional student, eager to make a better sense of the world we live in.
I believe in this process of discovery one can wisely benefit from qualities that are usually associated with learning – qualities, which could easily be dismissed by the illusive state of knowing. Wisdom that comes with the learner status frees us from much of our long held prejudices; keeps our minds open; and, gives us better opportunities for study and reflection. An ideal I pursue in the conduct of my quest for the truth , and hope to maintain throughout all walks of my life.
[AND YES! It means that I enjoy engaging with robust, complex and challenging questions of existential or moral nature; entertaining different potential answers or approaches; at times, even accepting piles of doubts and ambiguities, than going away with easy, tempting and often misleading answers.]
In short, I love philosophy and philosophising; appreciate a good poem, enjoy light laughers and fine wine.
So, if you think we share any or a few of these habits, please be kind enough to drop me a line and arrange for us to meet in a café or a pub. I long for friendships that could be described as a long walk alongside a river, enriched with engaging and never ending conversations. |
